Antigua Guatemala is in the mountain area of Guatemala and is known for its ruined churches and Spanish architecture.

Central Park is located in the center of the city and is gorgeous! An old, reconstructed fountain sits in the middle of the park where people come early in the mornings to late at night to enjoy the scenery. The Arco de Santa Catalina sits to the right side of the park and is one of the amazing agricultural landmarks located in Antigua.

Antigua is known for the many incredible religious celebrations around the week of Easter and Lent. There are processions in the streets and much celebration done to lead up to the Easter day.

Hiking is one of the most popular things to do in Antigua. Volcano climbing is often done and is hard work but fun to do when visiting Antigua. They have 37 volcano peaks and among them is the Pacaya peak which is one that is easiest to climb and is an amazing sight to see.

Fishing is also very popular for visitors. Salt fish, mahi mahi, blue martin and yellow and black tuna are in abundance in the waters. Sport fishing trips can be taken which are expensive but enjoyable. Whitewater rafting and scuba diving are enjoyable things to do as well when visiting Antigua.
